About APP Clinics and Events

**Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, APP will not be hosting any clinics for the 2020-2021 season that involves patrollers from different mountains coming together. We recognize that the networking and community that our clinics provide is one of the best parts about our organization, however we want to ensure that the health and safety of our patrollers continues to be our priority**

If you would like to host a Mid-Winter Clinic at your mountain for this season it will look a little different than normal. We will be promoting "self-testing" with an external auditor to oversee the process from a distance. This means you need to have a number of already Certified patrollers to conduct the tests and we will send a Board of Directors member to oversee the tests to make sure they are up to the APP Standard. If you would like to request a clinic please fill out the form on this page: 2020-2021 Clinic Request Form

Any questions can be send to us at: info@propatrollers.org

The APP offers first class clinics, events and forums.  Each winter, the APP schedules between 4 and 6 Mid-Winter Clinics where participants can take written exams, and are able to take many of the practical exams depending upon the ski conditions, weather and judge availability. These Clinics are held over a 1 to 3 day period at first class resorts throughout the Western United States.  At many of the Mid-Winter Clinics, the APP also puts on networking events, evening socials, special educational events and "behind the scene tours" that are unique to the particular hill hosting the Clinic.

The Annual Conference is held in late April, and is a 4 to 5 day event offering the same written and practical exam opportunities at the Mid-Winter Clinics.  In addition, there is a patrol director forum, a women's forum, and evening event(s) with special guest speaker(s). Other past forums/clinics held the Annual Conference include Risk Management, Avalanche Control, Science and Demonstrations, Avalanche Rescue Dog Training and more.  Each Annual Conference includes a special guest speaker.  Past speakers have included world renown leaders such as Warren Miller, Peter Croft, Shane McConkey, Scott Schmidt and Royal Robbins.

Attendance at any of the Mid-Winter Clinics or the Annual Conference also allows you to take advantage of the skiing/boarding during the event at the respective hills.  For most APP-Sponsored Events, APP Membership is required - see details on each event for fees, activities, tests offered and options.
