2015 Spring Clinic

Monday April 27, 2015 through Friday May 1, 2015 at Mammoth Mountain.

Although Mother Nature has not been a great partner this season, the APP Spring Clinic is On! The Clinic is on - Broadway will be open, as well as the Gondala to the top - so get those ski's tuned and make your plans today!!!

The APP will be returning to Mammoth Mountain for the 47th Annual APP Spring Clinic. Clinic registration will be at Mammoth Mountain Inn.

Throughout the week the APP will conduct ALL written and practical tests (weather permitting) and will have lots of additional clinics and speakers.

Current highlights, Bill Erb from Mammoth Mountain will be on hand to discuss risk and industry safety trends.

On Tuesday Dr. Timothy Crall (Mammoth Hospital Orthopedic Surgeon) will be discussing shoulder injuries and his extensive knowledge with ski/board injuries.

Other speakers/clinics will include APP member and Mammoth/June Patroller Neil Satterfield, to present gondola evacuations.

Mammoth Mtn Ski Patrol Manager Nate Heit to provide a clinic on explosives and avalanche control. Also expect a demonstrations/discussion on Mammoth's rescue/avalanche dog program.

Forest Service Avalanche Forecaster Sue Burak for Mono County, Mammoth Lakes, and June Lakes will be presenting California hazards.

Register today for the clinic by visiting this page. You can sign up as a judge, as a candidate for testing (the testing fee is a flat $15 and that covers all written and practical tests.) or as a non tester.
Registered/APP members may purchase Mammoth lift tickets - $15 for daily lift tickets. For information on APP membership and to pay dues, go to this page. APP dues are $40 for the season, and the season is from 11/1/14 through 10/30/15.
If you plan to stay at the Mammoth Mountain Inn, APP members will receive a 20% discount.
Be aware that ALL written and practical tests will be provided and as always, skiing and tobogganing practical tests will be conducted weather-dependent.

Monday 4/27:

Registration will be open from 8 am to 4 pm in the "Old Gondola Building".

Bill Erb, Risk Manager for Mammoth Mountain: Ski Patrolling in Low Snow Pack Years 10:30 to 12:00pm
Neil Satterfield, Mammoth Mountain Patroller: Gondola Evacuation Training after lunch OR
Mattly Trent, Patrol Director at Bear Valley: Snow Pits Analysis
Written Tests Only - 9 am to 4 pm (there will be no practical tests provided on Monday but you can schedule your testing for the week).
APP General Meeting/APP Board Election Preview/Head and Assistant Judges Introduction to Practical Testing - 4 pm
APP Mixer after the General Meeting and Training - location TBD.

Tuesday 4/28:

Registration will be open from 8 am to 5 pm "Old Gondola Building".
Written and Practical Tests - 9 am to 4 pm.
Time/location TBD: Dr. Timothy Crall who's special interests include traumatic and sports related injuries, as well as arthroscopic and open reconstruction of shoulder, knee and hip derangement.
Women’s Forum with Shannon Maguire , Sierra At Tahoe Patroller location and time TBD.

Wednesday 4/29:

Criteria Meeting (Head and Assistant Judges) with Michael Nolen - 8 am to 9 am "Old Gondola Building"
Registration will be open from 8 am to 5 pm "Old Gondola Building".
Written and Practical Tests - 9 am to 1 pm.
Certified Patroller's Olympics!
APP Board Meeting - 4:00 pm location TBD
6pm - 9pm Mammoth Brewery Dinner and Keynote Speaker John Teller.

Thursday 4/30:
