Due to the complex nature of the practical exam, the APP provides the score sheets from the Emergency Medical Technician National Registry - Cardiac, Medical and Trauma  Assessments (available below). Use these Assessment PDFs to prepare yourself for the practical exams.

Find a partner/victim to work with and one that you can take to a clinic for testing in this area.

Skills that you will need to demonstrate, include:

• ability to perform a full patient assessment;
• deal with STAT situations that are life and limb threatening;
• assess risk management issues;
• briefly train rookie Patrollers to help you during your exam; and
• lead the scene like an Incident Commander, all the while talking about what you doing throughout the exam.   It takes lots of practice to “talk and chew gum” in this area, so practice, practice, practice!
